Justin Mathis, DVM, MS, DACVECC
Dr. Mathis graduated as valedictorian from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. He completed a small animal rotating internship, a residency in Emergency and Critical Care, a Master’s degree in Clinical Sciences, and a Critical Care Fellowship at Colorado State University (CSU). Board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) in 2013, Dr. Mathis has served as an Assistant Professor at CSU and an Associate Professor at Mississippi State University. His clinical interests include trauma stabilization, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and mechanical ventilation. Outside the ICU, he enjoys farming, ranching, photography, and beekeeping.
Mike Nystrom, DVM, DACVECC
Dr. Nystrom earned his undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University and his veterinary medical degree from the University of Tennessee. As a board-certified veterinary criticalist, his interests focus on electrolyte imbalances and vasopressor therapy. Inspired by his mother, Dr. Nystrom pursued veterinary medicine out of a deep love for animals. He finds fulfillment in witnessing the recovery of critically ill pets and their joyful reunions with their families. A Cary, NC native, Dr. Nystrom enjoys playing soccer and spending time with his wife and three children.
