Meet Our Internist
At Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital, our Internal Medicine Service team is led by Claire Wiley, VMD, DACVIM (SAIM). Her extensive training and compassionate approach ensure that your companions receive the highest standard of medical attention during critical moments.
Our Internal Medicine Team works closely with our Emergency Department to deliver comprehensive, 24/7 care. Their dedication and expertise are central to our mission of providing the best possible outcomes for pets in need of urgent medical attention.
Claire Wiley, VMD, DACVIM (SAIM)
Dr. Claire Wiley is a board-certified specialist in small animal internal medicine. She previously served as the Executive Director of the AKC DNA Program and brings extensive experience in diagnostics, genetics, and clinical research. Upon completing her undergraduate studies at Yale University, Dr. Wiley earned her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013.
Dr. Wiley completed a combined residency in small animal internal medicine and a PhD at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she conducted research in molecular diagnostics for early detection of cancer and in canine reproductive and urinary tract genetics.
Dr. Wiley’s published work includes contributions to the development of novel, noninvasive diagnostic tools for early cancer detection in pets, including liquid biopsy methods and genetic profiling for bladder and prostate tumors.
Dr. Wiley enjoys working with local veterinarians and pet owners to deliver the most comprehensive care to her patients.
